I look forward to referencing other blogs, videos, and even peer-reviewed articles. I will be sure to give credits to the aforementioned external sources.
Let me tell you about myself.
Personally, I am still eating meat. Am I a bad person for eating pepperoni pizza? Well, many people will give different answers to that question. I need to eat to survive. I know humans have free-will. So repeating the question: am I, the author, a bad person for eating pepperoni pizza? Well, I don't go around doing felony acts like in the Grand Theft Auto game. But in a way, I am supporting the suffering of animals. That pepperoni or sausage comes from pork & beef, and pigs and cattle must be killed. A butcher does not go jail for killing animals because it is his job to kill animals. If anyone kills a person for fun like in the Grand Theft Auto video game, then he or she will go to jail. This reminds me the lesser of the two evils concept. One evil is super evil and the other evil is less evil. So perhaps it is a grey area for someone to eat hot dogs or pizza? We humans have free will and self-awareness so that is why we know eating pizza cannot give a clear definite answer, so it's a grey concept. I am sure millions of people are eating hot dogs everyday. I think people can still be law-abiding while eating meat. So I am not really a bad person for eating animal meat since I'm not going to jail for that. But it could be seen as immoral to some people, while others will say it is okay to eat animal meat.
I think people who do not eat animal meat don't like the suffering of animals. I wish all of the animals experience a quick and painless death. I am sad to think that the animals have to experience misery by dying a slow and painful death. So if animals are executed quickly that they don't even have the time to feel pain, then I would feel better. I still go to the Costco meat and fish section feeling a little bad because it is just wishful thinking to think that all animals die a quick and painless death. Humane is word invented by humans. Obviously the lion won't kill the gazelle in a humane way since it is not a human like us. The lion can't survive eating a plant-based diet. I wonder if a hunter using a gun to kill an animal is more humane than a butcher who uses a hunting knife.
As you can see, vegetarianism is not just a physical health topic, but also a sociology and psychology topic. Perhaps, I can say vegetarianism is both a physical and mental health topic instead. It is not as controversial to other topics such as religion, same-sex marriage, abortion, etc. But vegetarianism is still a controversial topic.
So I am looking forward to talk more about vegetarianism in later posts. See you then.
